How to apply liquid foundation
Liquid foundation can transform lacklustre skin into an airbrushed canvas of radiant perfection. It can turn a bad skin day into an “I can actually leave the house” day. There are many different formulations to choose from, but the three main types are matte, dewy, and liquid-to-powder finishes.
How do I pick the right foundation for my skin?
Matte is a good choice for young or oily skin, or if you want a longwearing option for a big night out. It can settle into fine lines and make dry skin look drier.
Dewy finishes work well for normal and mature skin types. You can add a little powder over your t-zone area to tone down unwanted shine.
Flawless Complexion Liquid Foundation is a great option.
Liquid-to-powder finishes are best for normal skin. They don’t control oil and will settle into fine lines like a matte finish formula.
How do I apply my liquid foundation?
Start with clean, moisturised skin. If you wear sunblock on your face, apply that first too. Opt for an oil-free formula so you’re not layering too many products onto your skin. Allow 10 minutes for your moisturiser and sunblock to absorb, then you’re ready to apply your foundation.
For best results, use a blending sponge or blurring brush to apply liquid foundation. You’ll use 30% less product than applying with your fingers, for a smooth, even coverage that finger painting your makeup just can’t match. If you’ve got oily skin, do not apply foundation with your fingers. It can make your skin even oilier.
To apply with a blending sponge dab the foundation over your face, dampen the sponge and blend in until you have the look you want.
To apply with a blurring brush squeeze the foundation onto the back of your hand and dip the brush into it before blending over your face. For matte and liquid-to-powder formulations, you need to work more quickly because they dry faster.
Always make sure you blend your liquid foundation into your jawline. Your foundation should match your skin tone, but if you choose a slightly darker shade to give your skin more colour you need to be especially careful to blend it thoroughly.
You can add a touch of finishing powder if you choose. This helps set dewy finish formulas for a longer lasting look.
